William Carson, 27, was sentenced on Friday after a jury in November found him guilty of two counts of first-degree reckless injury and five counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Prosecutors said that children were reportedly throwing snowballs at cars passing by in 2020. Carson had parked his car, got out, and began to fire a gun as the children fled the area, according to WMTV. He then drove off.

Carson reportedly fired about nine shots at seven children, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. A 13-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl were injured. A third child had a minor bullet graze injury.

Carson led police on a chase following the shooting incident and was arrested after he crashed his car, according to WMTV.

Carson’s arrested happened about eight days after the incident, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Officers located a gun matching the description of the one used in the shooting, WMTV reported.

According to WMTV, prosecutors asked for a 25-year sentence, but Carson was sentenced to 16 years.

In addition, Carson will get 10 years of extended supervision, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
