Waynesville school superintendent confident middle and high school students start next week

WAYNESVILLE — Waynesville School Superintendent Pat Dubbs told News Center 7 he is optimistic middle and high school students will start classes as early as next week.

This comes after mold was found and the district canceled the start of school last week.

Classes were supposed to start for Grades 7-12 on August 16 and were hopeful to start Tuesday but announced on its website that more time was needed.

Mold numbers inside the school have, “taken a positive trend downward,” according to Dubbs.

The district is expected to come up with a firm plan today about its back to school plans.

A district employee tells News Center 7 education has been put on hold because the district was not able to hand out Chromebooks to students.

Also, nobody is allowed in the building on Dayton Road except for crews dealing with the mold.
