UPDATE: SR 725 reopens in Greene Co. after earlier crash; Driver hospitalized

SUGARCREEK TWP. — UPDATE @ 11:50 a.m.:

Firefighters rescued a driver who was trapped inside their truck after a single-vehicle crash in Sugarcreek Twp. Thursday morning.

The crash was reported in the 2500 block of state Route 725, which is east of Penewit Road, in Sugarcreek Twp. around 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

A preliminary investigation found the truck was traveling west on state Route 725, crossed the centerline, hit a tree, overturned, and came to a rest in a ditch, firefighters told News Center 7.

The driver of the truck, who was not identified, was partially thrown from the truck and was also pinned inside the wreckage. Firefighters rescued the driver and transported them to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, firefighters said.

The crash and investigation shut down state Route 725 east of Penewit Road through the morning. Dispatchers said the road had reopened before 11:30 a.m.
