UPDATE: Victim accidentally hit propane tank that exploded in Warren County

CLARKSVILLE — UPDATE @ 4:30 p.m. (Nov. 24)

The male who suffered burn injuries in Wednesday night’s propane explosion in Clarksville inadvertently hit the tank while he was breaking up kindling for a fire, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

The male, identified as the homeowner, was conscious and talking afterward, Sheriff’s Lt. Snelling told News Center 7.

Damage to the house on state Route 132 in the village was minimal, the lieutenant said, and no other family members, who were present when the incident occurred, were injured.

CareFlight took the man to Miami Valley Hospital.

INITIAL REPORT (Nov. 23)

One person was taken to a hospital by CareFlight following a propane tank explosion at a residence in the 3100 block of state Route 132 in the village of Clarksville, Warren County, on Wednesday night.

A male suffered burns to his arms, face and chest, Chief Bob Wysong, Clinton-Warren Joint Fire District, told News Center 7.

Crews were dispatched about 8:30 p.m. on the report of a propane tank explosion and residential structure fire, Chief Wysong said. The fire was out when fire crews arrived, he said.

The Clinton-Warren Joint Fire District requested CareFlight.

Wysong said the cause of the incident is under investigation by the joint fire district and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

Clarksville is east of Lebanon, just inside the Warren County line, southwest of Wilmington about 37 miles south and east of Dayton.
