The first shooting was reported at the 1200 block of Windsor Avenue around 11:40 a.m.
A male called 911 and told dispatchers he was shot.
“I’m in the alley on Vernon, and I just got shot in my face,” he claimed.
Medics transported him to an area hospital.
The second shooting happened just before 3:30 p.m. along Mary Avenue.
A neighbor shared a video with News Center 7’s Malik Patterson.
The video shows a silver SUV driving down Mary Avenue. Then, two guys walked down the street in opposite directions. The video then shows one of them appearing to pull out a gun as they ran out of view.
Seconds later, gunshots could be heard. Then, one ran away.
Dayton Police Sergeant Creigee S. Coleman told our Patterson what officers saw when they arrived at the scene.
“Upon arrival, they located a 13-year-old juvenile male with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. Dayton Fire Department quickly arrived on scene, provided care, and transported that juvenile to a local hospital,” he said.
Sgt. Coleman said they also spoke with witnesses.
“Witnesses saw a vehicle randomly drive in broad daylight, shooting at a house indiscriminately,” he said.
Sgt. Coleman told Patterson that Dayton Police are investigating the first shooting.
“It is unsure if this is related to any other shootings. We’ve had two other shootings (Saturday),” he said. “We’re not going to say if it was a retaliatory, but we do not know.”
Sgt. Coleman is asking anyone who knows something to contact Dayton Police.
“I understand that people on this street are nervous and are afraid because they don’t want to be listed as people giving us information. But again, in order for us to solve these crimes, we need the public’s help.”
News Center 7 has contacted Dayton Police about both shootings and will provide updates on this developing story.
