American Red Cross, Dayton Fire Department team up to install free smoke detectors today

DAYTON — The Miami Valley Chapter of the Red Cross is partnering with the Dayton Fire Department to install free smoke alarms in Patterson Park today.

Red Cross volunteers are set to go door-to-door to install the alarms, with the first shift going from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the second shift picking up at 12:30 p.m. and going until 4:00 p.m.

The partnership comes as part of the national “Red Cross Sound the Alarm” effort as an initiative to install 50,000 free smoke alarms across 50 at-risk communities across the country.

This event is sponsored by AES-Ohio, AEP Columbia Gas, Fifth Third Foundation, Altafiber (formally Cincinnati Bell), and Ingram-White Castle Foundation.
